Overview
When shooting in 4K, the Osmo Pocket 3 is limited to 2x Digital Zoom.
When used with Osmo Pocket 3, the 2x Telephoto Lens can achieve up to 4x Zoom when shooting in 4K. 2x Digital Zoom + 2x Telephoto Lens = 4x Zoom!
Thanks to the magnetic design, it can be easily mounted on the camera lens of Osmo Pocket 3.
It’s compact and lightweight design does not strain the Osmo Pocket 3’s gimbal.
Disclaimers
When using the 2x Telephoto Lens you will experience some vignetting (a darkening around the periphery of the image). To remove this, you will have to zoom in at least 1.3x - 1.4x using the Osmo Pocket 3’s Digital Zoom before shooting, or crop the footage in post-production.
You may also experience slight distortion and softer focus at the edges of the image, which can also be treated in post-production software.
The 2x Telephoto lens is heavier than a lot of other attachment lenses or filters. You may encounter less of a magnetic hold than a typical ND filter due to the weight. It is important that you do not have camera lens protection glass on your Pocket 3 while attempting to mount your 2x Telephoto lens.
The lens must be removed from Osmo Pocket 3 prior to powering off the device to ensure no damage occurs to either the lens or the Osmo Pocket 3.
